Obituary of Anne Marie "Murielle" Arsenault

July 31, 1959 ~ August 22, 2024 It is with great sadness that the family of Murielle Arsenault announces her sudden passing on Thursday, August 22, 2024 at the age of 65 years. Born July 31, 1959, she was the daughter of the late Léo S. and the late Marie “Eva” (née Gallant) Arsenault of Abram-Village. Murielle will forever be remembered by her brother Gilles Arsenault and by sister-in-law Claudette Arsenault of Abram-Village. Also left to mourn her passing are her aunts and uncles: Lorraine (Martin) Gallant, Euclide (late Éliza) Gallant, Elda (late Ken) Capson, Lorraine (Roger) Arsenault, Aurele (Ruth) Gallant, Maurice (Vi) Gallant, Claire (Jean-Paul) Arsenault; by her extended family, the Siegrist family: Markus, Annie Cyr, James and Jonas; as well as a large circle of cousins and friends. Predeceased by her parents Léo and Eva Arsenault, her brother Jean-Guy Arsenault; an infant sister Suzette; aunts Béatrice (Donald) Cavanaugh and Arthémise (Alfred) Gallant, by uncle Joe (Marjorie) Arsenault, grand-parents Sylvère and Émilia Arsenault and Zénon and Béatrice Gallant. Sergeant Murielle Arsenault is a former member of the Royal Canadian Air Force. She began her career with the Canadian Armed Forces in Summerside as a reservist in 1986, with the 420th Squadron, where she worked on CC-120 Trackers. Two years later, she joined the Regular Force as an Avionics Systems Technician, and was posted to the 413th Transport and Rescue Squadron in Summerside. After the base closure in Summerside, Sergeant Arsenault followed 413 Squadron to the new base in Greenwood, Nova Scotia, where she remained for 13 years. In 2004, Murielle was posted to Shearwater, where she worked in a CH-124 Sea King parts repair facility. Even more, as part of her duties, Sergeant Arsenault was posted to Uganda, Africa, as part of Op Assurance in 1997, and to Camp Mirage as part of OP Appollo in 2003. Over the course of her career, the sergeant also carried out missions across Canada, Iceland, Mexico, Greece, Bermuda and France. Her well-deserved retirement came in July 2019, following more than thirty years devoted to the Department of National Defense. Awards: Sergeant Murielle Arsenault was honored with several crown awards as well as others at the level of the various squadrons in which she contributed in addition to a medal for Search and Rescue. She was also named Volunteer of the Year, in recognition of her contribution to the Royal Nova Scotia International Tattoo. Career highlight: 413 Search and Rescue Squadron. Her motto says it all: “So that others may live”. Resting at the Évangéline Funeral Home, 900 Route 124, Urbainville, PE for visiting hours on Wednesday, August 28th from 1 to 3 p.m. followed by funeral Mass at the St. Philippe et St. Jacques Church, Egmont Bay at 3:30 p.m. Interment will follow the funeral Mass in the Parish Cemetery. Wellington Branch #17 of the Royal Canadian Legion will hold a memorial service at the funeral home at 12:45 p.m. on Wednesday, August 28th.
