Obituary of Thérèse Gallant

12 April 1943 – 4 June 2023 We are sad to announce the loss of Thérèse Marie Gallant (nee Arsenault), who passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Charlottetown on June 4th, 2023 at the age of 80. Born on the 12th of April 1943, she was the loving wife of 58 years to Paul Gallant of Abram-Village and the precious daughter of the late Philomène and Amédée Arsenault. Theresa was the loving mother to Cécilia of Maximeville, Jean-Paul of Cornwall, Ricky (Jeanette) of Perth Road ON, Stephen (Crystal) of Orangeville ON. She will be dearly missed by her grandchildren: Cody, Brenna, Connor, Brianna, Cameron, Jack, Bella, Abby and her great-grandchildren: Ashlynn, Owen, Tripp, Kenna, Andi-Lily and Charlotte. Also left to cherish her memory are her siblings, Shirley, Marie, Jeannette (Junior-deceased), Gloria (Claude), Claude, Benita (Brian), Paul (Kathy), Ronald (Dottie) and Rosa; sisters-in-law Anna, Cecile and Louise; brothers-in-law Matt, Euclide and Edward; along with many nieces and nephews She was predeceased by her sisters Cécilia, Claudette (Leonard) and Betty, as well as numerous brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews. Theresa was in the first graduating class of L’école Régionale Evangeline, where she eventually came back to complete her 20 plus years teaching career. She also loved volunteering such as coaching local sports, Jeux de L’Acadie, Festival Acadien, local parish and in politics, being an active member of the Conservative Party. Her real passion was her time spent volunteering with the Royal Canadian Legion where she served as one of the first female executive member and served in numerous roles and committees, with her final role being Sports Chairperson with the Provincial Command. Resting at the Evangeline Funeral Home, 900 Route 124, Urbainville. Private visitations for family and relatives only on Friday, June 9th, from 9 - 10:45 am. A funeral mass will be held at the Saint-Philippe and Saint-Jacques Church, Egmont Bay at 11:00 am. The funeral mass is opened to anyone who wishes to attend. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The Royal Canadian Legion Branch #17 Wellington will hold a service of Remembrance at Evangeline Funeral Home at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, June 9th, 2023 Donations in Thérèse’s memory can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Saint-Philippe and Saint-Jacques Cemetery Fund will be greatly appreciated.
