Obituary of Arsenault, Alva Joseph

On May 28, 2022, at the age of 84, Alva Arsenault of Abram-Village reached his final destination. We wish him a happy reunion with his parents, Edmond and Dolly, his daughter Nicole and his sister Leona and many in-laws, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Alva grew up in Urbainville with his siblings: Irene Arsenault, Leona Gallant, Velma Withers, Aldine Hitchcock, Alcida Brown, Yvette Deschênes, Raymond Arsenault, Rita Bernard, Leonce Arsenault, Lorraine Brown and baby Wilfred Arsenault (died in infancy). Alva, along with his wife of 58 years, Erma, raised a family of six children: Odette (Paul) Cyr, Abram-Village; Marcia (John) Arsenault, St. Raphael; Raymond (Susan) Arsenault, St. Raphael; Nicole (Donald) Grigg, Kensington; Jean (Ginette) Arsenault, Dieppe, NB and Gilles (Léonie) Arsenault, Abram-Village. Throughout his life, he enjoyed good company, a vibrant trucker's conversation, caring for his beautiful vegetable garden and shining his '78 Ford truck. We hope heaven is ready for his arrival with plush gardens, sunny weather and lots of relatives and friends to greet him - this earth's loss is definitely heaven's gain. He enjoyed his 42 years as a truck driver and snow plow operator. Even in retirement, he was still concerned about heavy snowfall forecasts in the winter months. He was a quiet man, but the weather would always get him going. Pépé Alva truly valued the time spent with his 13 grandchildren who were his pride and joy. Sunday nights were the highlight of his week as everyone would gather for great meals, a few laughs and few drinks. He enjoyed teasing the grandkids and his famous handshake is definitely the trademark they will remember. His devotion to his family and friends was truly remarkable. He worked hard, provided for his family, attended hockey games and liked looking after his garden and his chickens. He also enjoyed sneaking a few drinks once in a while. He was blessed with the opportunity to travel to many different parts of the world with his wife, Erma and very often, accompanied by family and friends. Dad developed the pleasure of travelling as long as Erma organized the adventure. We, the members of Alva's family, thank his siblings for the help and support they offered their brother, especially in his final years on earth. A special thank you to Uncle Mel, a true friend, for his many visits with Dad at home and at the Wedgewood Manor where he received the best of care. We invite everyone to join our family for visitation at the Evangeline Funeral Home on May 31, 2022 from 6 to 9 pm. A Catholic funeral celebration will be held in his honour on June 1, 2022 at St-Philippe & St-Jacques Church, Egmont Bay at 10:30 a.m. after which he will be laid to rest in the parish cemetery. Safe travels Ford man… until we meet again!
