Obituary of Gallant, Rita Marie

The death occurred peacefully at the Prince County Hospital, Summerside, on Sunday, May 10, 2020, of Rita Marie Gallant of Le Chez Nous, Wellington, at the age of 99 years. Rita was born in Cape Egmont on December 27, 1920, daughter of the late Joseph Felix and Jeanne (nee Arsenault) Gallant. Rita lived a long and happy life, and was loved by all who had a chance to know her and be close to her. She was a very kind and gentle woman. Everything she undertook was done in a quiet and thorough fashion. She had a love and passion for doing jigsaw puzzles, her favorite pastime. During the last number of years, she also knitted numerous pairs of mittens and donated them to the Salvation Army. The last survivor member of her family, Rita is lovingly remembered by several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister Bernadette, her sister Madeleine and brother-in-law Donat, her brother Augustin and sister-in-law Nélida, and Marie Marguerite who died in infancy. She was also predeceased by nieces and nephews Zita, Dorothy, Hector, Gavin, Florence, Della (Gérard) and Germaine Arsenault, and Zita and Thér&egravese Gallant. Resting at the Evangeline Co-op Funeral Home, Urbainville. Visiting hours and funeral mass to be announced at a later date. Donations in Rita's memory can be made to La coopérative le Chez-Nous Ltée, Wellington, or to Notre-Dame-du-Mont-Carmel parish. Interment will take place in the parish cemetery.
